XLMiner Analysis ToolPak alternative

Same Excel Data Analysis menu in Google Sheets, working in 2026.

The XLMiner Analysis ToolPak by Frontline Systems was for years the add-on that brought Excel's Data Analysis menu to Google Sheets. Its Marketplace listing still exists (over 3 million users, 2.9 stars from 266 ratings, last updated May 2024), but since around May 2026 users have been reporting that it no longer starts: "Does not work since May approx", "Unable to use anymore", "There's no start button, only help". One reviewer writes that Frontline support told them it was discontinued. We could not get an official statement, so treat its status as "not working for many users" rather than officially retired.

If your course, textbook or workbook depends on that menu, you have two working options today.

Questions

Is the XLMiner Analysis ToolPak discontinued?

There is no official notice on its Marketplace listing (last updated May 2024). Since mid-2026 many reviews report that it no longer opens, and one cites Frontline support saying it was discontinued. In practice, most users can no longer run it.

Will my old XLMiner results still match?

Yes. The output tables follow the Excel Analysis ToolPak layout, which is what XLMiner also reproduced, so a worksheet or handout built around those tables reads the same.

Is Data Analysis ToolPak for Sheets free like XLMiner was?

Yes for all 19 classic tools, with no time limit. Logistic Regression and APA-style tables are in Pro (7-day trial, then $4.99/month, $19/year or $39 once).

Does it upload my data?

No. It reads only the cells you select, in the spreadsheet you have open, and all calculations run inside Google Sheets.
